What is NLP?
NLP is short for Neuro-Linguistic Programming and in the most simple of terms its described as a series of techniques used to help us be in control of our minds and behaviours.

The remarkably effective techniques used in NLP help us to modify or eliminate unsupportive beliefs and behaviours that don’t serve us, and create new, beneficial ones that do. This all happens at a subconscious level …the place where permanent change happens.

Without NLP or Hypnosis, our conscious minds will tend to resist change by analyzing, criticising, judging, comparing and convincing us to stay in our not-so-self-serving comfort zones… where it’s safe and familiar. However, bypassing the conscious mind allows us to improve and positively change how we think, behave and feel on an automatic, reactionary level.

NLP techniques work brilliantly for:

  • building self-esteem and confidence,
  • overcoming phobias and addictions,
  • discovering where and/or why you feel stuck in some aspect of your personal or business life,
  • releasing unreasonable, unsupportive beliefs that hold you back from success.


What is Hypnosis?
Let’s first get it straight that the kind of professional Hypnosis I practice does not put you in a vulnerable state where you’ll be clucking like a chicken or doing anything you are unwilling to do! Subjects in a hypnotic trance have absolute free will. While you’ve heard the classic phrase, “you are getting sleeeeepy…” the truth is that you’re not really in a sleep state, you’re simply in a state of relaxation, aka: “trance”, where your mind is actually hyper-attentive.

Just like with NLP, hypnosis bypasses the conscious mind to get to the subconscious where your core beliefs, thoughts and memories reside. You remain conscious, but most of the stimuli around you is tuned out. Your focus is intently on what I am speaking to you about, to the near exclusion of any other thought… sort of like when you watch TV or read a book.

In a non-trance state, you’re generally only aware of the thought processes in your conscious mind. Under hypnosis though, I can speak directly to your subconscious in order to access past events or memories you have forgotten about, or get to the root of why you are feeling stuck somewhere in your life.

Hypnosis combines really well with specific NLP techniques for extraordinarily effective results, and both NLP and Hypnosis are modalities you can request separately or together with Coaching.

What Happens in a Session?
Sessions are about an hour long. We first chat for a bit and discuss the life challenge/phobia/addiction that you’d like to change. I’ll ask you specific questions and then make a decision about which technique I think will have the most beneficial outcome for you.

When using certain techniques, I’ll explain the steps along the way as much as possible. If I believe Hypnosis will be a good tool for your success, I will only proceed with your permission and you’ll be fully able to open your eyes and be fully alert at any time throughout the process.

People experience various levels of transformation, some having complete breakthroughs with just one session, and most requiring three or more. Everyone reports some level of positive change right away, and I find that the more open and ready for change you are, the quicker you achieve results.
